Line
cutters make short work of cutting parallel lines!
Practically a trade secret of established glass etching studios, these
little parallel line cutters can really save time when cutting thin parallel
lines. Use them to cut any narrow parallel lines - like pine needles,
strands of hair, outlines around elements, veins in a leaf, and lots more.
Customers have reported that each cutter will cut up to 200 linear feet
of resist before getting dull.
The cutting head is
actually a loop of sharpened steel that cuts on either side of the loop,
so you get two cutting edges. To use them, you simply hold one like a
pencil and pull it toward you through the resist. At the beginning of
a cut, push down just a little harder, then let up a bit on the pressure.
When you get to the end of a cut, raise the handle up perpendicular to
the surface of the resist and snap the cutting loop towards you, up and
away from the surface slightly.
The
cutters are designed so that they both cut the line and peel out the
resist as they cut, so you don't have any peeling to do after the lines
are cut!
Cutting the lines
(and peeling the resist) is a simple and fast as drawing the line with
a pencil. Note: since the cutters peel the resist out as the line is cut,
you can't use them to create a reverse etch, where the lines are clear.
The cutters come in
a set of 5 different sizes (not adjustable) with color coded handles,
from just under 1/16" wide lines (3/64") down to just hairline
width (less than 1/64").

Creating this branch
of a pine tree is easy with the parallel line cutters. Just "draw"
the needles in with the cutter as you go, and they both cut the line and
remove the resist.
